STEM Nurtures Curious Learners & Problem Solvers
As the first public all-girls STEM school in Central Indiana, Girls IN STEM Academy prepares young women in kindergarten through grade 6 to thrive in life and, eventually, the workforce.
STEM engages students of all academic backgrounds in hands-on learning. This helps them become critical thinkers, a skill that translates well to any field.
STEM jobs are projected to grow two times more than other jobs over the next decade. Because of the demand for these skills, those with STEM backgrounds earn about 66% more than those in non-STEM fields.
Girl Scouts of Central Indiana builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. This theme is woven into the spirit of Girls IN STEM Academy. STEM curriculum is one of four areas of focus in Girl Scouts. As such, the ability to collaborate on STEM instruction and provide STEM enrichment activities on-site at the Academy is a powerful partnership.
Every Girl Can STEM™ is a non-profit supporting educational opportunities for Hoosier girls in science, technology, engineering, and math. Girl Scouts is a program partner of Every Girl Can STEM™.

Girls Who Belong Grow Up To Be Strong
Girls IN STEM Academy offers a safe, supportive environment where girls of diverse backgrounds thrive, surrounded by peers and leaders who look like them.
Women and students of color are underrepresented in STEM.
We aim to address this by establishing a place for young women—especially women of color and those from low-income households—to find a sense of community as they engage in STEM learning.
Our school’s leadership team reflects the students we serve. Our principal is a female leader of color with more than a decade of experience leading schools, and our staff is 87% female, 47% people of color.
By creating an all-girls environment, we set our students up for success. Studies worldwide have shown that young women attending all-girls schools are more confident than peers at co-ed schools and perform better academically.
